It's been a while

I know that it has been a while since I posted. To be truthful, I totally forgot about it. It has been so hetic at work I believe that my mind has shut down on me!

Technology can be a wonderful tool (I say that half laughing/half crying due to the fact my work computer died this morning. Luckly, IT was able to revive it, somewhat). I am currently working on an online training for work, using Adobe Captivate CS5. I love Captivate. Everytime I use it, I find out new uses for it, for example, for our podcasts I used it to record myself then added in a screenshot of my tool that I discussed.

It is a great tool to use for 21st Century Learning since you can develop online training with captions, highlight areas of interest, or whatever you would like to focus on. It also does popcasts, as mentioned above. And your work is fairly easy to publish to a website.

The only downside to Captivate is the cost. However, if you can get a budget for it, it is worth the cost.

Got to go for now, but more will come later....

  1. That is exactly how I feel about technology. One moment I say, " Wow that is awesome we can do that." The next, I am so frustrated because I have spent twenty-five minutes trying to join a site or submit an assignment to a page that is not cooperating. Hopefully the laughing moments will outweigh the crying ones!

  2. I sometimes wonder if using technology on a regular basis has shortened my patience. I find myself getting very impatient when my computer wants to act up or a website is taking a while to load. I know that it the scheme of things it is not really taking that long for it to work, I just expect it to be faster.

  3. Hi Carma,

I have had limited experience with Adobe Captivate CS5 but I find it is a great tools to create and manage interactive eLearning content. You are able to incorporate different media (Microsoft office tools, video, audio) to create a interactive environment for for students. However, yes, the pricing is defintiely a limiting factors. Thank for sharing this resource.
